This is Chris Redgrave, the new voice for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.
I’m looking forward to the opportunity to carry on Fred Ball’s tradition of bringing you intriguing stories from a wide variety of businesses operating in Utah and Idaho.
I’ve always been inspired by the spirit of entrepreneurs who follow their dreams to help create America’s economy. In the coming weeks I will share with you the stories of how these unique individuals found the inspiration to bring their ideas and products to market. I’ll also look at how they have survived and grown their businesses during these recent challenging times and learn about their contributions to the communities they serve and how they help with job creation.
We all have friends and family that made the leap, risking all they own to follow their dreams of creating a new business. We’ll hear from these businesses who found success and the paths they took to achieve their dreams.
I love hearing these stories, like the one from Tim Welsh and Pat Ford who own Beehive Cheese just outside Ogden. They started their cheese business as a throwback to the old-fashioned creameries that used to be found in every town. Their award-winning cheese is now gaining a national following.
Or Nanette Mathieu, whom we’ll be talking about later this week. Since the age of 18, she always wanted to own a cake shop. But it wasn’t until January 2010 that she saw her dream fulfilled with the opening of City Cakes and Café in Salt Lake City, which has been a great success. This is just one of the reasons Utah is bucking the unemployment trend and Idaho has been steadily improving since February 2010.
I look forward to sharing more stories with you over the coming weeks and months.
For Zions Bank, I’m Chris Redgrave. I’m speaking on business.
