You can never know too much about your finances. Whether you’re a millionaire or you’re just trying to make it from one paycheck to the next, it’s important to be financially savvy and take control of your money. On Thursday, August 19, Zions Bank’s Women’s Financial Group will help women from all walks of life focus on money for their families, their savings and their small businesses at the free “Smart Women, Smart Money” conference.
Cece Mitchell, manager of the Women’s Financial Group, says the day-long conference will feature sessions tailored to helping participants get back to the basics of money management. The Women’s Financial Group, Utah’s oldest financial center for women, regularly receives requests from women who want to learn more about their finances. This free conference provides a way to educate all women.
The one-day conference at the Salt Palace Exhibit Hall will be packed with workshops and presentations from experts. Participants will hear from insightful speakers, including keynote speaker and author Lee Woodruff who will share the story of how getting back to basics helped her family move forward after her husband’s injury in Iraq. Breakout sessions will focus on developing a spending plan unique to your household, ensuring your retirement savings are on track, learning the fundamentals of starting a small business, and more.
A series of micro-grants totaling $18,000 will be the presented to six local women at the Smart Women Smart Money conference. These women have been selected from a pool of applicants in the areas of small business start-up and expansion, community development, continuing education and teacher support, child and elder care, health and human services, and arts and culture.
Registration for the conference is required and is limited to 2,000 women. You can register online at smartwomen.zionsbank.com or by calling 1-800-737-6586. Attending the conference could be one of the smartest financial decisions you’ll ever make. After all, it’s free!
