USU HUNTSMAN SCHOOL OF BUSINESS/STEPHEN COVEY

March 16, 2010

This is Rob Brough, Zions Bank, speaking on business.

Exciting things are happening at Utah State University in Logan. Just a few weeks ago, USU and the Huntsman School of Business announced that Dr. Stephen R. Covey would be joining the faculty as the school's first ever Jon. M. Huntsman Presidential Chair in Leadership.

Dr. Covey, the best-selling author of "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People," will serve as a tenured professor in a research capacity in the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business. Dean Douglas Anderson says part of Dr. Covey's purpose in joining the faculty is to continue his research on leadership worldwide while also establishing the Stephen R. Covey Center for Leadership. The center will focus on principles-centered leadership, magnifying Dr. Covey's work within the state and worldwide.

Anderson feels this is a great opportunity for the school. The Huntsman School emphasizes the importance of ethical leadership, and Anderson notes the great need for integrity in the workplace. Dr. Covey's vision is to develop a center to help students become principle-centered themselves so they, in turn, can develop systems and structures to encourage creativity and potential in future employment or leadership capacities.

Dr. Covey feels developing the center will put USU among the top leadership schools in the country. He is excited for the opportunity to make a difference and influence the lives of students and faculty on the concept of principles-centered leadership. He also feels honored to be chosen as the first Huntsman Presidential Chair.

Anderson says Dr. Covey's appointment is great news for students, faculty, staff, and alumni. It will help further the Huntsman Business School's goal of teaching the importance of innovative, ethical leadership.

For Zions Bank, I'm Rob Brough. I'm speaking on business.
