MILLENNIAL MEDICAL

February 18, 2010

This is Rob Brough, Zions Bank, speaking on business.

Have you ever found it necessary to use crutches? It's quite an uncomfortable experience. Most crutches aren't designed for comfort, particularly the old-fashioned wood model that was available for so many years.

Those crutches were miserable to use, and believe it or not, that traditional crutch design had not changed in more than 70 years. It was not an ergonomic design, and users were forced to make painful adaptations to avoid getting calluses on their hands and sore underarms. Over time, using this type of crutch can even cause additional strains to joints, tendons and ligaments.

Ken Lester, chief executive officer of Millennial Medical in Logan, and Dr. Brad Larson are hoping to change that with their “In-Motion premiere crutches.” Dr. Larson has been a practicing orthopedic surgeon for more than 30 years. During that time, his patients consistently complained of the pain associated with using old-style crutches. After consulting with hundreds of patients, he knew it was time for something better.

Dr. Larson and Ken Lester started Millennial Medical with the two-fold mission of developing a clinically-correct crutch and keeping it affordable. Their crutch design contains a spring/shock absorber that reduces stress on the body by absorbing impact energy. This way, downward motion eliminates painful jamming under the arms. The crutch has an ergonomic grip that places the hand and wrist in a natural position to allow proper blood flow and nerve conduction.

The crutch is convenient to fold and store and would easily fit in the overhead compartment of an airplane. It also features the Sure Foot Articulating Tip to make it even safer. Even more impressive: Many sports stars have used and endorsed the marvelous new crutches Millennial Medical offers.

For Zions Bank, I'm Rob Brough. I'm speaking on business.
