This is Rob Brough, Zions Bank, speaking on business.
What a remarkable growth story! Lanny Lewis started a little woodworking business in his chicken coop in Tremonton, Utah, in 1989. Today, his sons preside over a company that produces more than 400 hardwood doors a day, has 25 employees and ships product all over the United States. Lewis Cabinets manufactures custom cabinet doors and solid wood components that are sold to cabinet companies and individuals.
The large, modern factory is located just 100 yards from the initial chicken coop shop. Brady Lewis, the company chief executive officer, returned from an LDS mission to Mexico in 2003. While there, he visited a General Motors assembly plant and was mesmerized by the automation. He vowed to bring modern technology to the family company. The company developed software in-house that enabled them to transition to full automation within three years.
The Lewis boys are very technology savvy. Their web applications allow customers to view and follow product, pay and collaborate online, among other helpful services. The data goes right from the customers to the machinery in the shop. Brady said, "Human and system errors cost money and slow you down. We've eliminated that. Our information systems give us an edge. It works so well, we're taking the software to market by year end."
Brady and his twin brothers, Bobby, the chief operating officer, and Beau, chief financial officer, work closely with Lanny, who is the chairman of the board. The family members love working together and are proud of having the finest equipment, the newest technology and the best craftsmen. Brady says the company prides itself on building superior products customers can count on and providing only the best service.
Brady explained that the impressive customer satisfaction comes from a combination of detailed craftsmanship and state-of-the-art systems. Lewis Cabinets' swift manufacturing process renders a product that speaks for itself.
For Zions Bank, I'm Rob Brough. I'm speaking on business.
