LIVING ECLECTION

October 23, 2009

This is Fred Ball, Zions Bank, speaking on business.

I had an appointment in St. George with a company called Living Eclection. Prior to the interview, I'd never heard the word eclection, and I found myself wondering if it was a real word. I knew that eclectic means "to select or draw from various methods or sources" but I didn't know about eclection.

When I met with owner Evan Guynn, he explained that he made up the name. While eclection isn't real, Living Eclection is: It's a beautiful furniture store on Red Hills Parkway in St. George. Evan wanted a unique name for his store that sells furniture and home accent pieces. He was eclectic in selecting the best styles and designs from various suppliers and manufacturers.

Evan has been in the furniture business since he was 18 years old. He studied graphic design at BYU, and a friend's father owned a retail furniture store. Evan was asked to help design a Web page for the store. He grew to love the furniture business enough that he decided to someday own a store of his own.

Living Eclection opened in October 2006. St. George was selected as the site because, at the time, the Washington County economy was strong, Evan had family in the area and he found a great location.

I was impressed with the store. It has great ambiance as well as easy access to and visibility from the freeway. Inside, the displays are attractive and well presented.

Evan's clients are home owners and interior decorators. Living Eclection has designers on staff to help customers with design, color, placement, and selecting appropriate furniture pieces. Because of the economy, Evan can purchase quality furniture from distressed companies by the container and offer high-end furniture at dramatic discounts.

For a limited time, customers can order from the company's Web site, livingeclection.com, and shipping to all 48 contiguous states is free.

For Zions Bank, I'm Fred Ball. I'm speaking on business.
