This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.

With Darin Zwick at the helm, a long-time Utah company is now heading into its third generation of family ownership: Zwick Construction.

Darin's grandfather, Bill Zwick, founded the company in 1969. His son, Craig, took the reigns in 1978 and the name "Zwick Construction" became synonymous with great work completed on time and on budget. In 1989, Craig Zwick was called to be a mission president in Chile for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The company was put in a "freeze" capacity for the three years that Craig served.

Upon his return, then Governor Mike Leavitt asked Craig to head up the Utah Department of Transportation, and in 1995, Craig was called to be a general authority for the LDS church, which again pulled him away from the company.

Darin, raised in the construction business, received a degree in Construction Management from BYU and worked for large construction companies in both Utah and California. With his degree and 10 years of experience, Darin re-incorporated Zwick Construction, and in January 2007 he became the third generation Zwick to head the company.

During my visit, Darin and I discussed some of the company's recent projects. They include the Harmon building at BYU, UCSD Medical Center Tower, the Portland LDS Temple, Foothill Village Shopping Center, University Mall expansion, the Saratoga Springs Zions Bank office and several LDS chapels. Zwick Construction is currently building the new Northwest Recreational Center for Salt Lake County and multiple fire stations along the Wasatch Front. Every project incorporates the company's core values: passion, integrity and teamwork.

Darin has put together a first-class team. I was impressed with his employees' dress, demeanor and zest and zeal for Zwick Construction.
