This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.
Paul Lei has always loved the outdoors. In his spare time, he liked taking an RV or boat out to enjoy Utah's wealth of outdoor recreational opportunities. However, as a full-time physician, spare time was difficult to come by and purchasing an expensive piece of equipment he could only use once or twice a year was not cost efficient.
One day Paul was talking to a couple friends who told him about companies that purchase recreational equipment and sell memberships to people who use the equipment for so many days each year, depending on the amount of points they buy. Paul thought this was a brilliant idea and decided to launch a company based on those principles. The result was All Access Recreation.
All Access Recreation, headquartered in Taylorsville, provides four tiers of membership: platinum, gold, silver and bronze. Each comes with a certain amount of points, and members can choose which tier they want depending on how much they plan to use the equipment. For example, a bronze membership comes with 100 points. This means a member could use an RV for 10 days a year because RVs cost 10 points per day.
The equipment selection includes four wheelers, personal watercraft, snowmobiles, boats and RVs. The system works well, Paul says, because it's not like a rental program. All equipment is for member use only and, as a result, it is kept in pristine condition. Paul has also invested in top-of-the-line equipment.
For a small monthly fee, All Access Recreation will deliver equipment to a client's home, pick it up when they're finished and clean and service it. Paul hopes to see membership continue to build, especially as more Utah residents discover what the business has to offer.
For Zions Bank, I'm Fred Ball. I'm speaking on business.
