MEDICINELODGE, INC.

June 17, 2008

This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.

I have such a great admiration for the wealth of ideas that originate in Utah. I never cease to be impressed with the innovation of Utah businessmen and women of all ages. Wade Fallin is no exception to that observation.

Wade spent 20 years in the medical device community, launching more than one successful business that marketed devices to medical professionals. However, he realized there was a need for more innovation in the market and created MedicineLodge along with Dr. Marlowe Goble.

MedicineLodge provides a range of medical devices for orthopedic uses such as hip and knee replacements, spinal fusion surgery or replacing ruptured disks. The Logan company also creates devices for sports injuries like ligament or tendon tears. Devices are made of metal or plastic compatible with the body, and some are even made to be absorbed inside the body after the healing is complete.

Wade tells me that MedicineLodge has helped large medical device companies to be more innovative and offer better solutions for their patients. For example, the company created a product for a large medical device company that makes it possible to do a knee replacement with only a 3-4 inch incision. The minimally invasive device not only decreases bleeding and scarring but also reduces a patient's hospital stay.

MedicineLodge has grown so much in the eight years since its launch that it now employs 110 people and has a satellite facility in Phoenix. In January 2007, MedicineLodge merged with Leis Medical, a large medical contractor in Dayton, Ohio which increased both its capacity and coverage area.

The company is distinguished not only by its talented and dedicated staff but also by its positive and nurturing culture. Wade says MedicineLodge employees are motivated because they know the products they create are improving other people's quality of life.

For Zions Bank, I'm Fred Ball. I'm speaking on business.
