When people have confidence in their appearance, particularly their teeth, the way they feel about themselves, both personally and professionally, is effected. That's why many dentists would tell you it's important to take care of your teeth.

Dr. Herald Clark is no different. He has been in the dental business for more than 22 years and has personally seen how powerful a beautiful smile can be. He opened his first office in the Sugarhouse area off 1300 East and 2100 South and watched his business grow for many years until he acquired a new location a year ago.

The building was in bad shape, but after an extensive year-long renovation, Dr. Clark's practice, Millbrook Dental, opened its doors in April. The tastefully decorated office, located at 3643 S. Highland Drive, now boasts state-of-the-art equipment and computer systems, including Dr. Clark's specialty — the latest in laser dentistry.

Laser dentistry uses lasers of different wavelengths to do work on either soft or hard tissue (gums and teeth) including cavity and root canal preps, laser bleaching and other peridental applications. As unbelievable as it sounds, Dr. Clark tells me the lasers even make it possible for him to do fillings without anesthesia.

During my visit to his office, I watched in amazement as he demonstrated the precise work the lasers do, which is virtually painless. Dr. Clark was first introduced to laser dentistry six years ago and says he will never go back to traditional dentistry. Working with lasers has become his unique niche, and he anticipates it will increase in popularity as more dentists discover its effectiveness.

Besides laser dentistry, Dr. Clark says what draws patients to Millbrook Dental is the comfortable office environment and personable staff that does its best to ensure each patient's needs are met. He enjoys dentistry and hopes to make his practice as comfortable as possible, especially for those nervous about visiting the dentist.
