This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.
I'm always fascinated to learn where the ideas for new businesses come from. My recent visit with Kamille Bauer was no exception. It was an interesting set of circumstances that led to the creation of her business.
While she was pregnant with her first child, Kamille found herself required to be on bed rest. She learned to knit as a child but didn't pursue the art. However, knitting became a good distraction while she was stuck in bed. After making a scarf, Kamille discovered she enjoyed knitting and continued even after her daughter's birth.
After Kamille's husband found himself suddenly unemployed, she taught him to knit, and that year, they knitted Christmas gifts for everyone in their family. This helped Kamille realize how important knitting had become in her life, and she wanted to share her passion with others.
Kamille grew up in West Jordan and was well-acquainted with Historic Gardner Village, which she felt would be a great location for her business. She inquired about the possibility of opening a yarn shop in the village, and several months later, in November 2007, she launched Kamille's, with the tagline "Where Friends Wind Up."
Kamille's is a paradise for knitters and crocheters of all ages. It carries a wide variety of yarns in a rainbow of colors and weights as well as the proper tools to utilize the yarns. The store offers knitting and crochet classes for beginners up to advanced craftsmen, including a parent/child class for children as young as 6 years old. In addition to knitting supplies, Kamille's also carries home dˇcor items such as candles and miniature plates.
Kamille is in the process of planning a three-day knitting retreat, complete with classes and catered meals. She is pleased to be able to share her passion with others and hopes to see Kamille's continue to grow.
For Zions Bank, I'm Fred Ball. I'm speaking on business.
