DAKOTA MILL & CABINETS

April 24, 2008

This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.

It's interesting where life takes you. Sometimes what seems like a terrible disappointment can actually be a blessing in disguise. Such was the case for Carl English.

In 1996, Carl found himself suddenly and unexpectedly out of work. With an MBA from the University of Utah and 18 years of senior management experience, Carl was offered a job to go in and turn around financially troubled businesses.

One of the first companies he worked with was Dakota Mill & Cabinets in Ogden, a custom cabinet builder since 1979. In a period of less than a year, Carl turned the company away from a looming financial disaster. After five years of successfully managing Dakota Mill & Cabinets, Carl developed a great love and respect for the company, so when he was offered the chance to buy it in 2001, he took it.

Seven years later, Dakota Mill & Cabinets continues to flourish under Carl's leadership, manufacturing and installing custom cabinetry and countertops all over the Wasatch Front. It offers three lines of cabinets: stock, semi-custom and its custom signature line in face frame and European styles in an endless variation of wood species, moldings and specialty finishes to meet the needs of the most discerning buyer.

Carl likes to think that what the company really does is rekindle customers' love of their kitchens. All customers participate in the RSVP or Repair, Service and Value Protection Plan. One year from the date of original installation, Dakota design professionals schedule a return visit to adjust doors, drawers and complete minor touchups. Complimentary customer care kits assist in required cabinet maintenance. They guarantee steadfast quality, enduring beauty and exceptional value.

Even though running a business like Dakota Mill & Cabinets wasn't Carl's original goal, he has enjoyed watching the company grow. He hopes to continue providing high-quality products and service.

For Zions Bank, I'm Fred Ball. I'm speaking on business.
