Have you ever listened to a company's jingle and then you can't get the tune out of your head? One company jingle I always remember is.. Now I can't carry a tune but let me try... "AMSCO Windows."

Recognize that? Probably not when I sing it, but I'm sure you've heard of the company. It has a long history in Utah manufacturing and is now the largest window manufacturer in its market, with 60 percent of the market share in Utah residential construction.

A native of Salt Lake City, AMSCO founder Phil Rasmussen decided he wanted to be a business owner while serving in the US Navy during World War II. In 1949, Phil pulled $2,500 from his savings and borrowed an additional $5,000 to found Aluminum Manufacturing and Supply Company, known simply as AMSCO today.

When Phil started AMSCO, he only had three employees to manufacture aluminum shade awnings. How things have changed! I walked through the 500,000 square foot manufacturing facility and saw his 500 employees busily producing beautiful windows and doors using the very latest in window technology.

AMSCO Windows pioneered the vinyl window market in the Intermountain West. They first realized the potential vinyl held back in the mid Ô80s and placed their first vinyl windows and patio doors in 1988. In 2004, AMSCO launched the latest in window technology again with the Renaissance Composite Series windows and doors. This revolutionary material is built to look and feel like wood without the drawbacks such as rotting, peeling and warping.

My visit to AMSCO taught me the importance of having the right windows and doors in your home, which can mean the difference between just filling a hole in your house and installing an architectural element that adds value and beauty for years to come. The dream Phil Rasmussen had over 60 years ago has been fulfilled many, many times over! (sing).."AMSCO Windows."
