BEAR LAKE CAR CARE

January 3, 2008

This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.

It's not unusual to drive by Bear Lake Car Care and see the entire parking lot full with a line of cars waiting for service.

Bear Lake Car Care, located in Montpelier, is a hometown-friendly, one-stop auto shop intended to fulfill a person's car care needs from oil changes to major engine work. The business also installs car audio and DVD systems and is an XM satellite radio dealer. They are an authorized Bridgestone tire dealer and carry 11 major brands of tires.

Owner Bob Biggs started working for a previous owner of the business 14 years ago. When the owner's son took over, he worked for him for a few years before leaving to pursue other interests. Six years ago, the business was up for sale again, so Bob and a partner purchased it. Two years ago, Bob's brother, Jim Griglack, moved to Montpelier from Texas, leaving his 20-year career as transportation director for a school district. The brothers bought out Bob's partner to run Bear Lake Car Care together.

Bob and Jim pride themselves on offering fair prices, competitive to what someone would find in a big city. Most of their work comes from tires and routine service but sometimes bigger service needs arise.

Last summer a man on his way to Yellowstone National Park stopped by to resolve a problem with his car. The part that needed replacing had to be ordered in, so a Bear Lake Car Care employee drove the man to Pocatello at no cost so he could rent a car and continue his vacation. When he returned a few days later, an auto shop employee met him in Pocatello so he could pick up his car. The man was so impressed with the service he received that he wrote a letter to the editor of the local paper and the Chamber of Commerce.

Bob and Jim hope Bear Lake Car Care will continue to be known for its great service, and customers can drive away happy.

For Zions Bank, I'm Fred Ball. I'm speaking on business.
